  1. I started a flickr page for my photos of actual emergency vehicles. Feel free to take a look.

  2. How does one go about making the axle for a five stud wide vehicle?

The 2x2 single axle plates with a stud seperating them.

I used this axle http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6157 connected with two jumper plates http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3794 to fix them in the middle of the base of my five wide pickups.

You could use the standard 4 wide axle and put a jumper plate in the middle.

  3. On the Sutphen SPH 100, is it just me or are the stabilizers located in different positions (driver's side next to the pump, officer's side with a control panel between it and the pump)?

They are located where you described, It's not just you.

      Why are they like that?

so the stabilizer booms have somewhere to go. if they were in the exact same spot on both sides, they wouldn't fit, as they do not fit into eachother either

  4. Another day too cold for school. Lopking to replace my rescue but need ideas.

You could try Rescue 317 if you are still interested in commercial chassis.
