Same with the Squad, it entered service earlier this year. Only minor injuries for the crew though. Hopefully Grafton had a warranty to get the truck repaired.

They should have a warranty, if not the insurance should help to pay for repair. Finley Fire should get it fixed real quick.

LAFD probably didn't want to just buy 10 rigs right off the bat, especially with a new company for their aerial devices. So I am guessing they will train a heck of a lot on this rig, see what is and isn't working out on it for them, and that way the other 9 can be delivered with any improvements the department wants.

    3. HenryH BCFD

      HenryH BCFD

Yeah.  That's normally how it works for big contracts with new brands. For example, I think I remember reading that FDNY had 2 of their new KME pumpers built and delivered well before the others so they could make sure they would meet FDNY's requirements.  Its a smart thing for LAFD to do because if there are any issues with the first tiller, they will be able to have Pierce fix them instead of being stuck with 10 tillers that aren't going to work well for them.  The one that is completed looks really nice, the truck companies that are going to get them are pretty lucky.

    4. Paulo R.

      Paulo R.

FDNY had to switch out all of the door handles on the inside of the rigs because they broke a few thumbs on them. But that is being fixed on all the new eogs being delivered now.

  13. The first Pierce Dash CF is now in service in WV. Even though it is used, it is a nice addition to the fleet of Wiley Ford VFD Co.27: https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/12295486_852294968223115_1892107193181609900_n.jpg?oh=12037b81df0490e10113bd8182879d11&oe=572202B9

sorry to be late on this, but this "Professor" a mumbling bumbling blithering idiot! great ideas, make the fire departments lose money to the police department. I know you need police but you can't fight a fire in the 21st century with trucks that are outdated and overused.

forgot to mention that they want the FD to fight crime on their days off?!?!? what is this, a forced police department that gets no pay? Stupid idiot

    3. T.J. Brammer

      T.J. Brammer

@Scotty Jones, the "professor" wants the FD to fight crime when they are on duty between calls.

  16. Congratulations to Vienna Fire Department (West Virginia) on the recent order of you new Pierce Enforcer 107' Ascendant Aerial sold by Paul Jordan of Finley Fire Equipment.

      HenryH BCFD

If I'm not mistaken, that may be the first or one of the first Ascendants.  It certainly hasn't quite lived up to the expectations Pierce had for it yet, although it does seem to be a solid design.

    2. T.J. Brammer

      T.J. Brammer

It's the second ordered thru Finley, a department in Ohio is getting one on an Impel Chassis, and there might be another one being ordered somewhere else in the country, but I don't know.

I think this is a good idea, but I think it would be easier to buy more ambulances for maneuverability.

@~JD~, I agree with you 100%, also considering that the site is "Call the Cops. net" and I quote "Displacing fire suppression apparatus for medical calls with no dedicated EMS unit to handle it is a lethal game."

@HenryH BCFD, It won't, and as ~JD~ said, "it is a lethal game."

Yeah, Henry's right. The website is a complete hoax so you guys got fooled. All it takes is a minute on the home page to realize it's BS. And even if it was real, like you guys said, it would never be real.

Of course, it's a fake! Second time this happened to me. Thank goodness it's a fake though.

  18. I need some help, I was looking on Pierce's Flickr page and I found this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/piercemfg/21298896765/

And I remember that this department is the department that purchased the first Seagrave Apollo II.

    http://www.seagrave.com/uploads/89R04 Bridgeton NJ 005.jpg

Finally I noticed that the numbering is the same on both, they say "Tower 7" so if anyone has any information on the Seagrave, please let me know.

@~JD~, The bonus picture was their old tower, and they ordered the Apollo to replace that rig.

@Henry, I don't know how something could go wrong with a truck one year old.

@LDFR, I looked on their page and the only post about the Seagrave was a training photo and they said LT7.

It could have been a flaw in the manufacturing or something else mechanical.

@LDFR, True, since the truck was the first of it's kind.

      I don't even...

How strong was the compartment door or was that station built with chewing gum instead of concrete. Geez.

Glad no one was hurt but that crew should of had a backer, probably would have prevented that.

    2. T.J. Brammer

      T.J. Brammer

From what I heard, it was the right compartment above the wheel that was open, and also the truck was pulling forward. Also it's West Virginia, we do a lot of things here other states don't.
