  1. Been working steady on a project and have some decent progress but nothing solid yet. Hope to have something ready by Saturday to show.

  2. Finally got some time to pull out the bricks again! I've got 10 days off from college so hopefully I can put something together so Mike isn't hogging all the gallery glory! 😉 Lol I've also been remind that my collection is extremely unorganized, so I have a side project now as well.

Not my fault I'm the only one posting :P Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  3. Structure fire on the border of districts 19 and 22 yesterday. Engines 19 (First due baby!) 17, 18 and 22, Ladder 26, Rescues 19 and 22, OP Deputy Chief and CCFR Batt. 2

  4. Early morning fire at a pulp mill in clay hill. Crews from clay county and JFRD responded. CCFR Engines 13 and 14, Tanker 14, Rescue 13, Batt. 1 and Ladder 26. JFRD Engines 143, 46 and 56, Tankers 43 and 46, Batt. 4, Rescue 46, brush 43 and 46.

  5. Just heard the town I was an explorer with is getting a new engine! Not sure on the specs but the truck is likely to be a pierce quantum.

  6. Was finishing up a meeting at work when a DUI MVC happened outside. Drunk guy fled, two victims got accessed by me before crews arrived. SO was all over the scene. JFRD kind of blew me off once on scene but whatevs. Busy night.

      Did you pass your NREMT?

    2. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Unfortunately missed it the first time but I've made arrangements for the second time. Plan to study up on the missed sections and hopefully pass before medic starts.

  7. Took my NREMT exam yesterday, just waiting on the results!

How long until results are in?

Should be tomorrow, it says 2-3 business days.

  8. JFRD responded to a tanker rollover on the far Westside on I-10. Engines 7 and 46, Heavy Engine 143, Squad 14, Hazmat 7, Ladder 7, tanker 43 and Rescues 7, 43 and 46.

  9. Anyone else hear about Philly ordering 3 new tillers from Pierce?

They must have really liked the 750 lb tipload and the 60 degree cramp angle 😂

Just heard they actually cancelled the KME tiller order, which is totally surprising considering their history with KME.

    4. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Wow, that is surprising. I wonder why they cancelled.

  10. Welp, Florida's looking like a tinderbox this fire season. My county along with dozens of others issued burn bans in the last few days and my county just issued a state of emergency. But on the lighter side I received my Lego orders from Star Wars day, so that's a plus!

  11. The crap day when two districts get brush fires and your district is on cover.

    1. ~JD~

      ~JD~

District 14 on the Westside of the county got a brush fire that pulled crews from 2 or 3 other stations and got us on cover and then a second brush fire occurred in District 20 on the Southeast side of the county pulling additional resources south of us. Needless to say the county is stretched thin, luckily FFS is assisting so hopefully it doesn't last long.

  12. So this weekend was nuts, big fight at the local mall that had 5 arrested, a shooting in the north area of my district and a shooting with homicide in the neighborhood next to mine. Along with all the brush fires popping up it's kept everyone busy.

      Thanks Mike, will do!

  13. Two fires sparked by lightening overnight, both on the south side, the first was a single family residence with fire showing through the roof. JFRD Engines 42, 51, 54 and 44, Squad 14, Rescues 42 and 54, Tankers 42 and 54, Brush 42, Ladder 44 and Tower 21, Battalion 4. The second was an apartment fire damaging 8 units, fire also showing through the roof upon arrival and struck a 2nd alarm. JFRD Engines 1,19, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 50, Rescues 1, 21, 27, 28A, 29 and 30, Battalions 1 and 2, Saftey 1, Ladders 1, 4, 28 and 30, Squad 12, Air 5, Tanker 29.

  14. Major wildfire in Nassau County (North of Jacksonville). Multiple crews responded and responding to engage the fire, currently it is 60% contained. Nassau County Fire Rescue crews and volunteer crews are on scene with Nassau County SO, as well as FHP, JFRD, FFS, CCFR, Macclenney FD and crews from Charlotte County GA. CCFR activated it's Wildfire Task Force to assist, bringing extra manpower and equipment to the scene.

  15. JFRD recently equipped every engine company and ladder company with ALS equipment, combined with the city's ALS rescue units gives the city 110 fully equipped ALS units. Apparently this makes JFRD the largest department to have full ALS capabilities.

    1. Edward O.

      Edward O.

Cool. All East Northport engines and the ladder are BLS-equipped and the ambulances are all ALS-equipped. Still need a medic to actually run ALS though. We currently have 8 (I think) volunteer paramedics plus one paid fly-medic and one paid fly-EMT.

    2. Edward O.

      Edward O.

The Medic is F/T and the EMT is P/T. The EMT's car can be taken by anyone when not on shift.

  16. Major MVC in District 17 late last night. CCFR Engines 15, 17 and 18 Rescues 15, 18 and 26, MCU 26, Batt. 1, St. Vincent's Medics 06, 08, 14, 16 and 21 with CCSO and FHP. Stations 19 and 25 were on alert/cover assignments.

  17. Sad day for Orlando PD and Orange County SO, two officers killed in the line of duty. Thoughts and prayers to our brothers and sisters in blue.

  18. Went in to TRU to see about some clearance and apparently it's the opposite for lego. Everything was marked up, even stuff that's been there for months. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

  19. Fingers crossed guys, took my final for EMT. Waiting on the course results. Next up will be state/NREMT exam to make it official.

  20. Busy day for JFRD, a back robbery on the northside involving swat and hostages. Engines 9 and 24, Squad 37, Ladder 9 and rescues 15, 24, 26, 33, 36, 37 were all on standby for the incident. Meanwhile on the Southside a multi vehicle crash brought Battlion 3, EMS 4 Engines 21, 28, 30, Squad 12, Ladder 30, Tower 21, Rescues 21, 28, 28A, 30 and Tanker 28

  21. So while I was working as a student today the station I was at did some training. St. John's county fire rescue Station 5 with Squad 4 worked on extrication training, got to see new engines 8 and 12 (twin quantums) and got info on new apparatus coming to SJCFR. Plus I got to ride on the new Dodge Ram Braun rescue, excellent ride quality, a fantastic piece of apparatus!

      FORD

      Found Out Ranking Dodge

    2. ~JD~

      ~JD~

The dodges at SJC are really nice and run fantastically, much better than the terrastars. And clay has 6 as well that run great, they actually replaced Ford units that ran before them. It has to do with the engines, since they're all Cummins and all the county trucks have Cummins Diesel engines on them. All the staff vehicles for both FDs are still Ford though. Now if we could just get some new Ford brush rigs that would be nice!

    3. Edward O.

      Edward O.

ENFD has run fords since 1984 - ambo's, engines, everything. Smooth as butter, great power, great traction. And a Ram crew cab is about on par with a Ford extended cab in terms of space; Ford crew cabs have a lot more space.

Rumor has it that the ENFD will be purchasing the house next to our substation if it ever goes up for sale and expanding it so it runs 2 ambulances instead of one (moving a HQ ambulance down), 2 engines (which it already does), and a new brush truck (which will be the department's second, one for each station). Just talk though.

JD, please try and be a little more cliche. lol. Just kidding.

  23. You know it's a crap day when the CAD is completely blank. Also, it really sucks when every district but yours is getting good runs.

    1. Edward O.

      Edward O.

I'm not sure what you mean by a blank CAD.

As far as runs go, I got really excited this afternoon cuz I thought we had a car fire but it ended up bein' a false report. My dad did 40 in 30 zones all the way to Headquarters for nothin' lol.

    2. ~JD~

      ~JD~

For our station we have a monitor that shows incoming calls and their info for the whole county, several times throughout the day it was blank.

    3. Edward O.

      Edward O.

Oh. Both stations we have multiple monitors, usually the one on the apparatus floor is always on and the one in the 'firematic' room, as we call it, has a monitor but it is not always on. The firematic room is right off the first floor kitchen and department members, their families, and police officers can stop in, grab a newspaper, eat lunch, sit on the couch and watch TV, etc.

  24. A pretty serious crash happened earlier this morning with a JSO officer involved. The driver attempted to flee police for currently unknown reasons and hit two other cars and JSO patrol officer. 3 children were injured in the crash as well, one was critical and taken by lifeflite to the local trauma center. JFRD responded with Engines 42 and 51, Ladder 44, Tanker 42, Brush 42, Rescues 42, 51, 62 and Chief 105 all with additional JSO officers. We wish the officer and the kids the best and fast recovery.
