  1. Felt like tossing this out there but... I have a slight confession to make. :P My name is actually Mike but (no offense to the Mikes out there), I disliked that name and thought that Tim was way cooler sounding so I decided I would adopt that as my "alias" when I first started getting online. I still like Tim over Mike, so I prefer to continue being called that if you all don't mind. So yeah, just thought I would throw that out there, hope all's cool and nobody tries to kill me. :P

@Josh, which are you refering to: the sketch one, the Super Pumper or both?

    4. Joshua O.

      Joshua O.

Both! But the sketch is more overkill IMO. . .

  6. Whenever I look at the shoutbox, all the messages are scrambled so nothing makes sense and nothing is in any order.  Anyone else experiencing this or just me?

      Can you post a screenshot?

When it first loads I see random old messages but once it finishes I see the up to date ones the way they are intended to appear.

  7. Got a thing from my computer today while trying to connect to EB that said it believed the site to be fake and potenially a risk to confidential security info on my computer. Not sure what the deal is. I clicked out and opened it again and it was okay.

This is because earlier today we migrated from a server with a SSL certificate  to one without. That is what would have caused this error. It shouldn't  appear again now that the migration  is complete.

  8. Anyone else lose the topic list and the thing that shows what users are online when on the forum page?

      Joshua O.

Yeah: me. This is the same server Police 10-13 is using. Not sure I like it.

  9. Happy Birthday Lake Dodge Fire Rescue!

Congrats on your 2nd year and many more to come

  11. What would be the purpose of a Paramedic Squad, such as the one operated by NOEMS in Nightwatch? I assume it's either a MCI type unit or a light rescue operated by EMS instead of fire

I believe I've found the answer. It's all a matter of history.

Originally, the New Orleans Police operated EMS, with Crash Squads. The CSs were a New Orleans concept where they handled extrication, swift water, first aid, high angle (I think) and even bomb disposal. It was staffed by 5 officers and was dispatched as a heavy rescue as I believe NOFD didn't have one. When the NOEMS was made. the concept stuck. It had been known publicly and has always worked so they kept...

  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the body of this ambo is a AEV right? (skip to 3:50)

I don't think so, the taillights look more like a Wheeled Coach.

  13. So apparently on Chicago Fire, it's the responsibility of the Truck to get a line hooked up to the hydrant and other Engine duties. -__-

I just realized, wasn't the firefighter running after her the guy off Squad or was he Engine?

    3. ~JD~

LDFR- He was engine, his helmet said "Engine 51"

Chris- I thought that all standpipes were like that. Only the sprinkler system runs it's own water and FDs usually can't tap into that.

In most facilities in the US that experience cold/below freezing weather yearly will have the dry pipe system, which also goes for sprinkler systems. Sprinkler systems, in most cases, need to be fed water and additional pressure from pumpers, as most are on a closed system with no additional water supply.
