  1. That moment when you JUST find out American LaFrance has been out'ta business for like a year

We had an ALF, the department opted to remount it through E-One. So we sent the engine to E-One, they refurbed the pump and engine and chassis I believe and essentially turned it into a brand new E-One. Ever since then the problems went away.

Shame about ALF though, that truck was the smoothest thing I've ever driven. It drove more like a car than a overweight truck.

ALF has changed hands a couple times, the current owners face trouble in 2008 they filed for bankruptcy protection. They revised the plan but ended up ceasing operations in Jan 2014

      Welcome, always a pleasure.

We have updated to a new version of the software so updates to user's posts, topics, comments, etc are now live and seen cross-window.

Downloads are restored so we once again have the largest single collection of Emergency Themed LDD files :)

Content is now served via AmazonS3 meaning more space and less constrictions on users.

      And more!

  5. I couldn't upload photos here because of the file size restrictions, so check out the MedLink EMS Facebook page for updated photos of the whole fleet!

Just saw this, I'll work on increasing the limit. In theory since we are using Amazon Servers now there should be no limit. So must be a bug.

  6. Now that I have MOCpages figured out (Internet Explorer...), I have uploaded all of the massive new photos that are too big for EB to upload. http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/65655 Take a look and let me know what you think. E-5, L-2, L-4, and R-1 are all new apparatus, bringing my fleet to 7 engines, 3 ladders, and a rescue. E-1, T-1 and L-2 have new photos on their existing pages as well.

Hmm, how big are they? We use Amazon S3 for our image hosting so their shouldn't be any images too big for us.

What size were the photos so I can increase the limits?

  11. @Dakota, I use IP-board Theme, deleted the cache, deleted all history, nothing works. The shoutbox is still gone after login here on EB. Changed nothing since our last talking via shoutbox. Have the problem on Imac, Ipad

IP.Board is the theme you'll want to use for mobile/ iPad.

I'll check a few more settings

Hmmm. I don't have either so I can't troubleshoot easily.

I do know Bruce uses it on his iPhone  successfully.

      Which theme are you using?

      Update : try it now

  13. Whenever I look at the shoutbox, all the messages are scrambled so nothing makes sense and nothing is in any order.  Anyone else experiencing this or just me?

It says you do, but you actually do not. It's just a bug.

  15. Got a thing from my computer today while trying to connect to EB that said it believed the site to be fake and potenially a risk to confidential security info on my computer. Not sure what the deal is. I clicked out and opened it again and it was okay.

This is because earlier today we migrated from a server with a SSL certificate  to one without. That is what would have caused this error. It shouldn't  appear again now that the migration  is complete.

  16. So EB now has ads at the bottom of the page?

  17. It just took me 8 tries and 20 minutes to get logged in to EB

It should lock you account after a few failed tries.

I'd argue that in order to "get on air" you need to remove your helmet to get your mask on. If you're getting out of your truck with your mask on you're just asking for your mask to fog up and impair your visibility and make yourself look bad. (Seen it happen firsthand) A good firefighter should be able to take a hoseline to the door and mask up on the porch in seconds. If not donning drills are a good way to practice.

NFPA 1901 - Fire helmets are not to be worn in fire apparatus. :)

  22. Purchasing files, how does it work?

Correction: Once a subscriber membership expires they lose the ability to sell files, but they maintain their account credit for files sold before then.

All files require points to download, that's just an incentive to encourage posting.

Special files put up by active or former subscribers can have a monetary value attached. Those require a Paypal account to buy the file, the uploader then gets monetary credit for the file less the fees for the PayPal transaction which he can redeem once it hits a certain dollar value.

  24. I just wanted to take a moment to thank two of our staff members here, Dustin & Bruce, for their assistance with Emergency Bricks. It is almost always Dustin making sure that your submitted LDD files are approved for public posting within a timely manner, and when it's not him it's Bruce. Thanks guys.

Best truck I ever drove was a LaFrance, had its share of issues but it was the best ride and drove like a car.
