  7. Difference between lot and item on BL? Help?!

    1. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Lot as in “Super lot”? It usually means you have to purchase the entire listed “lot” rather than 1 or 2 individual parts.

    2. Edward O.

      Edward O.

No. I'm trying to price out a rig for a friend and BL sellers' pages say they have x-amount of items in x-amount of lots, with so many matching lots. Not sure what the difference is.

  8. A Tisket a Tasket - EB's hit the trash basket

Not sure where you're from but in my area we don't need Dr. confirmation to bag & tag

  14. I need to get around to posting on here more

      ~JD~

      Yes, you do.

    2. Edward O.

      Edward O.

      Well get to it lol

  15. What's the absolute most reliable way to get parts for new rigs? PAB doesn't have the necessary parts and BL is either way too expensive or inconsistent in both price and parts in stock

    1. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Bricks and pieces via Lego is better than PAB, the selection is more up to date and often has the common fire builder parts.

For bricklink, you need to join the site as a buyer and create a wanted list of the parts you’re trying to find. The site will compile a list of the parts and the sellers that have the most of your wants in their store, which narrows down your search drastically. I don’t believe you can narrow the stores by payment method though so you’ll probably want to open a paypal account as well. (Helpful hint, don’t allow notifications for wanted parts postings unless you like sifting and deleting email all day!)

    2. Edward O.

      Edward O.

Yeah that's what I've done with the wanted list. I've also got PayPal. It's just hard with all the inconsistent store stocks

  16. So I did a check on the cost of an Ascendant and the 107 single axle model with a PUC runs just over the one million dollar mark. If the truck is smaller than a tandem axle, why does it cost more? I’m sure the PUC is an expensive upgrade as well but man!

    1. Edward O.

      Edward O.

You also have to take into account that the aerial has as many as 7 feet on a tandem aerial. Also, the internal parts are probably much stronger due to the fact that the weight is supported by one axle instead of 2.

  17. Anyone know if Pierce could/would do a dual steer axle on a tiller?

    1. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Dual steer on the trailer axle? Not likely, it’d be to difficult to maneuver and hurt the effectiveness of the tiller. You’d get the same ability to turn like the standard tiller but likely not as sharp and the weight would be effected having a second axle, reducing valuable storage space.

    2. Edward O.

      Edward O.

I'm less concerned with effectiveness of the tiller and more interested simply in whether someone would actually make it

    3. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Short answer- no, they would not.

Long answer- no, they would not because it’s ineffective.

  18. Keep in mind tonight and likely through the holidays, the brave men and women from dozens of SoCal fire departments are battling intense wildfires across SoCal. They do not falter, they do not waver, they continue to fight to protect hundreds of thousands of people and their homes this holiday season, and likely will not return home for Christmas. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers brothers.

  19. Happy Birthday Josh! 21 and ballin 😎

  20. First Ascendant Ladder for the First Coast and actually serving the  first coast area-

      Happy thanksgiving to you too!

  22. Not sure if anyone heard (or cares) about this but the company known as Allied Specialty Vehicles, now called REV group which owns E-one fire apparatus and Road Rescue ambulance also owns McCoy Miller (formily a Spartan affiliate) and now owns Ferrara Fire Apparatus as of this year. While ferrara is currently independent, could we seem them merge with E-one? Somewhat interesting for the major fire buffs out there.

    2. ~JD~

      ~JD~

Another tidbit on REV, they also own all of KME, from the fire division to industrial division.

    3. Michael P.

      Michael P.

Heard about this a while back, and I'm not too sure of what to think about this. I'm still glad that the three main fire apparatus (KME, E-ONE, and Ferrara) are still distinct, however, it wouldn't surprise me if they merged down the road. Interesting tidbit: most of the FDNY apparatus except for the Seagrave Scopes, HP pumpers, tillers, and a few special ops vehicles are now from the REV group. This also includes ambulances. I also heard that KME would be doing the new rescues.

    4. ~JD~

      ~JD~

I know right, not sure how to really feel about it. You can see with the ambulance manufactures they are starting to develop the same designs on their units so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the fire side move that way. Yeah, the bidding process must have loosened up for more manufactures to better compete, or Seagrave is stepping out of the FDNY business. I’ve heard FDNY and mainly the city is very difficult with the requirements of their contracts and Seagrave could no longer handle the stringent demands from the city, not sure how true it is though.

  23. Brand new engine 14 serving “the burg” in west clay county. Very sharp new paint scheme as well, might make its way into my department's paint scheme. Tender 14 is still in production but is likely to have the same paint scheme.
